What Time Ghost of Yotei Releases on PS5

Ghost of Yotei is nearly here and it’s time to start preparing for its release. In 2024, PlayStation didn’t have much of note to offer in terms of major first-party exclusives. Astro Bot somewhat made up for it, even going on to win Game of the Year, but games like Concord degraded the brand. However, PlayStation has come back strong with two of its best games this generation in the form of Death Stranding 2 and the well-received Ghost of Yotei. It’s a return to the cinematic single-player games that fans love and want from PlayStation from some of the most respected creators of those kinds of games.

Ghost of Yotei is the long-awaited follow-up to Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima. The 2020 game was the perfect swansong to the PS4, serving as one last hurrah for the console just weeks after the release of The Last of Us Part 2. The game not only helped gamers stay entertained through COVID, but it also introduced them to a brand new franchise that would become a pivotal piece of the PlayStation empire.

Now, five years later, Sucker Punch returns with a sequel that isn’t really a sequel. It borrows a lot of the themes of its predecessor and utilizes the gameplay of Tsushima, but Ghost of Yotei is a wholly new experience set hundreds of years after Tsushima in a brand new location with new characters and stories.

What Time Will Ghost of Yotei Release on PS5?

So, when can you dive into Ghost of Yotei? Imminently! Ghost of Yotei releases tonight. If you’re on the east coast, Ghost of Yotei will become available digitally at 12 AM on October 2nd. The game will release simultaneously across the United States, so those in the central timezone can play it at 11 PM on October 1st and those on the west coast can play it at 9 PM local time.

Historically, video games release on Tuesday or Friday, but for some reason, PlayStation has begun adopting Thursday releases, which means you may disrupt your sleep schedule for the middle of the work week instead of the end of it.

If you’re looking to get into the action as soon as possible, you can pre-load Ghost of Yotei right now on PlayStation 5. This will allow you to download the entire game ahead of its release and play it the second it becomes available. The game will remain locked until it is officially released, so don’t expect to start sooner than that!
