The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Nintendo Direct presentation has just concluded, and we got way more than we were hoping for. A brand new character trailer (which you can view above), some exciting DLC and expansion pass announcements, and even some Xenoblade Chronicles themed DLC coming to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild!

The first big announcement was the inclusion of dual-audio DLC. Whenever we get games imported to the West, there is a remnant who would prefer that the voice acting and dialogue be left in its original language, with English subtitles. An awkward dub can make for an awkward gameplay experience, so we were elated to see that Nintendo will allow us to download and toggle on the Japanese audio at no extra cost.

The second big announcement was the inclusion of an expansion pass. Nintendo followed up the Direct with a press release revealing that the expansion pass would be priced at $29.99. Included in this pass players can look forward to:

  • Support items for your journey (Starting December 2017)
  • New quests for the main game (Starting January 2018)
  • New rare blade (Spring 2018)
  • New Challenge Battle Mode (Summer 2018)
  • A Brand-New Story and Adventure (Autumn 2018)

If you own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it was revealed that this week, on November 9, a free Xenoblade Chronicles 2 outfit will be available for Link to equip so you can explore Hyrule in style. The armor is inspired by the main protagonist, Rex, and players will have to unlock it by completing a new side-quest in the game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is almost here! The game launches on December 1, and we’ll have our full review ready and waiting for you, so stay tuned!
