As of late, Bandai Namco has been hitting us with some impressive new Dragon Ball FighterZ announcements, including the debut of Android 16, 17 and 18 in the game, as well as a new explosive trailer featuring Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta. But now a familiar face has appeared that should no doubt be a fan favorite – if he's playable in the game, that is.

According to this report from Destructoid, Yamcha, one of the most beloved human characters in the Dragon Ball Z universe, could be making an appearance in the forthcoming Arc System Works brawler.

The report indicates that the voice actor behind the character, Toru Furuya, tweeted back in June regarding how tired he was doing a voice session as Yamcha. But fans were curious as to what project he was working on. When a fan recently inquired about it, Furuya was more than happy to respond, noting "The name of the game is a Dragon Ball Fighters released in 2018," along with a smiley cat face.

So it appears that Yamcha will be in the game. However, Bandai Namco hasn't officially announced his presence just yet, so it's unknown if he'll actually be a playable character, or if he'll just appear somewhere in the game's story mode, or as a spectator on the sidelines. Still, the fact that Arc System Works is going all out to get all sorts of familiar faces into the game has to be considered good news, especially considering how much fans really love Yamcha.

There are still plenty of announcements to be made in the months ahead, and with both the Tokyo Game Show and PlayStation Experience still to come, there's a good chance we could see Yamcha officially announced at that time. Hell, maybe we'll even see him pop up in the forthcoming beta for the game, which is set to take off sometime in the next few weeks. It'd be interesting to see how he fares against some of the more super-powered characters in the game – but we'll give him a vote of confidence.

Dragon Ball FighterZ arrives in February 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
