There are now officially plans for a Stan Lee movie, but this is no biopic. Stan Lee is about to become an action hero.

Twentieth Century Fox has acquired Stan Lee’s life rights, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fox is planning to make Lee the hero of an action-adventure movie set in the 1970s.

The Stan Lee movie is being produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, the team behind Twilight, The Maze Runner, and the upcoming Power Rangers reboot. They’re setting the tone as something akin to Kinsman: The Secret Service and Roger Moore’s James Bond movies, so expect Stan Lee’s alter ego to be competent, witty, and flirtatious.

Lee is the co-creator of many of Marvel Comics’ most prominent character. Twentieth Century Fox has been responsible for bringing some of those characters to movie theaters, including the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

In the 1970s, during the time period the movie is said to be set, Lee had moved to Hollywood in an attempt to get Marvel’s characters into movie theaters. His attempts were largely unsuccessful, though history has shown that Lee may have just been a few decades ahead of his time.

Lee began working for Marvel Comics, then called Timely, in 1939. By the 1960s, Lee was ready to quit the industry. Lee’s wife convinced him to give comics one more try by making the kind of story he wanted to, rather than what his superiors recommended. The result was Fantastic Four #1, a breakthrough collaboration with Jack Kirby that birthed the Marvel Universe. Lee went on to, with artists Kirby and Steve Ditko, co-create characters including Spider-Man, the X-Men, Hulk, and Doctor Strange.

The Stan Lee action-adventure film is still without a writer.
