When fans learned that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there was plenty of rejoicing. Comic book readers were excited to see how the twins would fit into the massive franchise, but what they saw might not have been what they wanted. If you saw the movie, then you know that Quicksilver died at the end of the Avengers: Age of Ultron. Fans have hoped the hero would not stay dead, but it doesn’t seem likely that Quicksilver will be coming back.

Which is a shame, really, because Aaron Taylor Johnson would like to play the speedster again.
During a recent interview with Metro UK, the actor was asked if he’d be up for reprising the heroic character. So, of course, Taylor-Johnson said yes.
“Yeah, absolutely,” he answered. However, the actor does not know of any plans to bring Quicksilver back to the MCU. “I don’t have any knowledge I could share with you if did,” he admitted.
After fans learned about Quicksilver’s on-screen fate, they began petition for his return. Audiences believed that if characters like Bucky Barnes and Agent Phil Coulson could ‘come back’ from the grave then so could Pietro. However, Kevin Feige went on record to shut those conspiracists down.
The president of Marvel Studios told fans. “Quiksilver is DEAD. 100%, he’s not coming back any time soon, there are no plans.”
To cover his paces, Feige went so far as to shoot down any possible resurrection methods which fans might query about. “No LMD, no escaping bullets, no retcon,” he said, clearly emphasizing that death was Quicksilver’s inevitable fate.
Director Joss Whedon has also talked about the decision to kill off Quicksilver. The filmmaker said the sacrifice added weight to what the Avengers are doing. If the team continued to do its jobs without anyone getting scathed, then the director feared audiences wouldn’t understand how heroic these members were. Whedon didn’t want to the team’s work to be disingenuous, so someone had to get beat with a ‘Suffering Stick’ to prove their worth.
Sadly, Quicksilver was the guy who bit the bullet or six. The boy was riddled with gunshot wounds by the film’s end.
Despite Feige’s and Whedon’s comments, there are those fans who are still convinced that Quicksilver will return. Rumors continue to circulate about the hero being revived in Avengers: Infinity War, but it doesn’t look like Taylor-Johnson has heard any such news.
