Guardians director James Gunn is enjoying the fruits of his labor at the moment, but there are still fans looking for answers regarding that ever elusive last easter egg from the original movie.

Gunn has been adamant in not revealing what that final easter egg is until someone discovers it, but he is softening on his hint giving. During a Facebook Q&A, someone asked about the Easter egg status, with Gunn saying “One left, although it was discovered in some great part. But if I acknowledge it I still feel like I’m giving it away.”
It’s hard to narrow down exactly what theory he’s referring to, as there is an inordinate amount of them floating out there on the Internet. The good news is most of the false ones’s have been shot down by Gunn himself, so the field could get narrowed a bit.
In any case, someone has already gotten close, so it’s only a matter of time before someone puts it together.
