After back to back blockbusters with Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, James Gunn is a big name when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Prior to getting his MCU start, however, Gunn originally had other interests. In a Q&A session on Facebook, the filmmaker told fans the characters he originally wanted to make a movie about, and they’re a far cry from the cosmic characters he’s been working with the past four-plus years.

“I wanted to do Hit Monkey. Like REALLY wanted to do it,” Gunn responded. “I was also interested in doing a Hulk/Red Hulk film.”

While Hit-Monkey is a character seems like something right up Gunn’s alley โ€” you know, with his work with sentient animals and plants like Rocket Raccoon and Groot โ€” the second pairing is something that might start getting fans to petition.

The gamma-filled green giant entered the MCU in The Incredible Hulk (2008), the second movie set in the shared movie universe. Even though the movie can be considered a critical and commercial success, Edward Norton โ€” the actor who played Bruce Banner/Hulk โ€” was replaced by Mark Ruffalo and has been a supporting character ever sense.

The good news is that the groundwork is already there for a movie featuring the two Hulks. Mark Ruffalo has done very well in the role and actor William Hurt has played General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross โ€” Red Hulk‘s alter ego โ€” in two MCU movies now.
