So far, there is no word on what role Wise has been cast for. Deadline says the star will co-star opposite of Larson along with Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, and Ben Mendelsohn. Captain Marvel marks Wise’s first major movie role following her work in projects like Shot Fired, Underground, and She’s Gotta Have It. Captain Marvel is expected to film next year and opens in theaters on March 8, 2019.

Fans are already speculating who Wise is playing, but it is difficult to tell. Very little is known about the Marvel Studios flick right now save for its inclusion of the Kree and a 1990s setting. Wise may be tasked with bringing a Kree warrior to life or perhaps work with Carol Danvers in the Air Force, but there is another option fans are crossing their fingers for.

Could Wise maybe bring Monica Rambeau to life?

Created by Roger Stern and John Romita Jr., Monica is one of Captain Marvel’s lesser-known inheritors. The character debuted in 1982 and carried the heroic banner. Monica inherited her gifts while she was working in New Orleans as a ship captain at the harbor. The heroine was given extra-dimensional powers when she tried to keep a weapon from being created, and Monica became a hero who operated under the name Captain Marvel.

During her tenure, Monica did some big projects as she joined the Avengers and even came to lead the team. She may have lost her powers for a spell, but Monica got them back after Quasar recruited her for a team mission along with Carol Danvers, Black Bolt, and more. Most recently, Monica has worked under the name Spectrum and aided in the destruction of Earth-1610.

So far, there is no word on whether Monica will factor into Captain Marvel, but fans will find out soon enough. The film is set to begin shooting this year, so audiences will want to keep their eyes turned to Atlanta once production gets underway.

Thor: Ragnarok is now playing in theaters. Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies include; Black Panther on February 16, 2018, Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018, Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6, 2018, the fourth Avengers movie on May 3, 2019, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 5, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.
