Captain America is letting is true colors shine through the cover to the final issues of Secret Empire.

Originally announced as a nine-issue series, Marvel Comics today announced that Secret Empire has been extended with a tenth issue. Secret Empire #10 will be written by Nick Spencer, featuring art by Steve McNivene and a cover by Mark Brooks.

Brooks' cover shows Captain America, Steve Roger, standing triumphantly over the fallen bodies of the Marvel Universe's greatest heroes, including the X-Men, Avengers, Defenders, and Champions. On the cover, Cap is wearing a new costume that seems like a blend of an Iron Man armor and Cap's tradition costume but decked out in Hydra's green and gold.

"[Writer] Nick [Spencer] has constructed each issue of Secret Empire so that it ends with a climactic twist or a big reveal or a shocking development, and issue #9 is no exception," Marvel SVP & Executive Editor Tom Brevoort tells Marvel.com. "So moving into the finale, with issue #10, the heroes across the Marvel Universe will be pushed to the breaking point as we race to the exhilarating climax we've been planning for months. Oh, and let me say again: we're not going to use the Cosmic Cube to simply reverse everything away—the stakes matter, maybe more than they ever have before."

Secret Empire has certainly kept Marvel fans on their toes. The first issue revealed that Captain Americahad managed to form a new team of Avengers loyal to Hydra. The Free Comic Book Day Secret Empire issue showed Captain America, still fully loyal to Hydra, lift Mjolnir high into the air after Thor mysteriously vanished from the field of battle.

Secret Empire #10 will release in August and will show the final battle between Captain America and the combined might of the Avengers, Champions, Defenders, Inhumans, X-Men and other Marvel Heroes.

Secret Empire #2 hit store shelves today and finds the heroes of the Marvel universe still grappling with the reality of Hydra's America.
