Doctor Strange Dimension Image Released

Doctor Strange will explore previously unseen areas of the Marvel cinematic universe, including ones in other dimensions.

In the newest image from the film (via EW), Doctor Strange can be seen traversing a somewhat trippy looking space, with Strange's Eye of Agamotto in full glow. Director Scott Derrickson discussed the image and the vision that the visual effects team is going for with the film.

"It is the section of the movie that is most directly inspired by the '60s and '70s Doctor Strange comic book, specifically the Steve Ditko panels that were very psychedelic, and also a blacklight poster from 1971 that I have hanging above my desk at home. It's also the banner on my Twitter feed. So those are the visual inspirations for that space and it is all taken directly from the Marvel comic universe."

From Marvel comes Doctor Strange, the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place – a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange – armed with newly acquired magical powers – is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence. Join Strange on his dangerous, mystifying, and totally mind-bending journey.

Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4.
