Logan Honest Trailer Enlists Deadpool For Its Sizzling Critique

Fans loved Logan. Critics loved Logan. And, though they tried not to, the folks behind ScreenJunkies seem to be overtly fond of the gritty superhero feature as well. The Youtube channel may be known for ripping films to pieces with its 'Honest Trailers,' but not even ScreenJunkies could bring itself to assault Logan. The R-rated film just hit Blu-ray today, prompting a wave of fans to go buy the film for their personal collections. Now, the parody site has given fans its honest take on Logan, and it turns out making fun of the film is a really hard thing to do.

Over on Youtube, ScreenJunkies uploaded its latest video, and fans will immediately noticed the honest trailer lacks the same bite others have in the past. The first bit of the video has plenty of vitriol to keep it running as the trailer rips into past X-Men flicks like Wolverine: Origins and The Wolverine. However, when it comes to poking fun at Logan, ScreenJunkies flounders to find fault.

In the end, the channel's biggest complaint was focused on the film and the backstory if gave via cell phone footage. In the movie, fans learned about X-23 and her mutant comrades which were bred down in Mexico in a lab setting. The disposition was given via a self-record cell phone video, but its production quality was out of this world. ScreenJunkies queried whether iMovie just became really good in the future, but in the end, the slight was not enough to keep the trailer going.

So, naturally, ScreenJunkies called up Deadpool to help out with the roast. The channel was able to borrow Ryan Reynolds for a special guest bit, but the channel failed to make the actor bash Logan.

"Are you high? I'm not s*it on Logan," Deadpool says."That movie is a f*cking masterpiece. If Hugh Jackman doesn't get an Oscar nom, I'm setting every VHS copy of Crash on fire."

Continuing, Deadpool then says he wants a film like Logan someday. "I do endorse James Mangold to make 'Old Man Deadpool' in 2038. Oh, man - how good would that be. Just 90 minutes of Cable and I changing each other's space diapers."

Yeah, that's a mental image most fans could have lived their whole lives without imagining.

In 2029, the mutant population has shrunk significantly and the X-Men have disbanded. Logan, whose power to self-heal is dwindling, has surrendered himself to alcohol and now earns a living as a chauffeur. He takes care of the ailing old Professor X whom he keeps hidden away. One day, a female stranger asks Logan to drive a girl named Laura to the Canadian border. At first he refuses, but the Professor has been waiting for a long time for her to appear. Laura possesses an extraordinary fighting prowess and is in many ways like Wolverine.

She is pursued by sinister figures working for a powerful corporation; this is because her DNA contains the secret that connects her to Logan. A relentless pursuit begins … In this third cinematic outing featuring the Marvel comic book character Wolverine we see the superheroes beset by everyday problems. They are ageing, ailing and struggling to survive financially. A decrepit Logan is forced to ask himself if he can or even wants to put his remaining powers to good use. It would appear that in the near-future, the times in which they were able put the world to rights with razor sharp claws and telepathic powers are now over.

Logan stars Hugh Jackman (Logan), Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice).

James Mangold (The Wolverine) directed, based on a screenplay he co-wrote with screenwriters Scott Frank and Michael Green.

Logan is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on May 23.
