Ant-Man was a refreshing surprise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially in the wake of losing an acclaimed auteur in Edgar Wright who was then replaced by director Peyton Reed. Paul Rudd was surprisingly likable as the lead in a major motion picture, especially after years of being cast as “sidekick” or “boyfriend.”

But the movie was successful and entertaining, and part of that must be credited to the comedic stylings of Michael Peña, the thieving partner of Scott Lang who gets recruited into a super-heroic heist.
Peña played Luis, who picks Paul Rudd’s Lang up from prison upon being released and immediately tries to get him back in the convict lifestyle. After Lang stumbles across Hank Pym’s shrinking suit (that also allows him to control ants), he stumbles into a conspiracy to appropriate the tech for terroristic purposes and must pull of the heist of the century.
Of course Luis and other members of Lang’s crew are recruited to help, and Peña’s character gets many comedic moments throughout the film. It was an assumption that the actor would return for Ant-Man and the Wasp.
But… that might not be a sure thing.

According to Peña himself said he doesn’t know if he’ll be in the film, despite signing a multi-picture deal.
“No, no, I haven’t gotten the phone call yet” Peña said. “I don’t know if I’m gonna get the phone call. Who knows?”
Peña referenced that, because of the multi-picture deal, so long as he has availability in his schedule, they can include him on short notice.
“I don’t think they have to call you at all,” Peña said. “They could just say that he’s free to go and he can do any movie that he wants at this period of time. I don’t really know what’s going on with that. There’s always possibilities that you’re not going to be in that movie. You just prepare yourself for that.”
C’MON, MARVEL STUDIOS! GIVE THE PEOPLE LUIS! WE DEMAND LUIS.
There you go, Peña. Expect that phone call any day now.
