Earlier this month, Spider-Man swung into the Marvel Cinematic Universe full stop, and Peter Parker ended his solo strut on a surprising note. The Queens vigilante ended up turning down a brand-new Spider-Man suit crafted by Tony Stark, but fans shouldn’t worry; They haven’t seen the last of the Iron Spider suit yet.

Recently, Art of VFX had a chance to sit down with Dominik Zimmerle and chat about his studio’s work on Spider-Man: Homecoming. It was there the artist revealed Spider-Man’s new suit was crafted for a future piece of the MCU.

“The new Spider-Man suit was actually designed for one of the next installments of the MCU, and models and textures were done by [visual effects company] Framestore,” Zimmerle said. “We took over the asset and did the lookdev based on provided concept art.”

The Trixter Studio artist went on to explain his work on creating the vault which houses the Iron Spider suit, but fans are particularly focusing on Zimmerle’s suit anecdote. The VFX specialist didn’t specifically mention Avengers: Infinity War by name, but enough evidence has cropped up as of late to tie in the film.

Most obviously, the first footage shown of Avengers: Infinity War sees Spider-Man don the new suit. Marvel Studios shared a teaser for the Avengers flick at D23 and SDCC, and footage descriptions reveal Peter Parker does some acrobatics while donning the Iron Spider suit. Set photos from Avengers: Infinity War have also shown Tom Holland acting in a motion-capture suit, suggesting his uniform will have to be added in with VFX.

For now, fans will have to wait and see what kinds of goodies come with Spider-Man’s new suit. The armor was introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #529 but used heavily during the acclaimed ‘Civil War’ comic run.
