Sam Raimi’s fixation early Stan Lee/Steve Ditko years of Spider-Man’s career meant that his trilogy of Spider-Man films featured some of Spider-Man’s best, classic villains (and also Venom). Raimi had planned to stick around for Spider-Man 4, but things didn’t work out with the studio. We can only wonder what the film would have turned out to be, be we now know which villains Raimi planned to challenge Peter Parker with.

Writer/artist Jeffrey Henderson posted several pieces of concept art he created for Spider-Man 4 to his website. The concept art reveals two classic villains and original members of the Sinister Six, the Vulture and Mysterio, battling Spider-Man. The Vulture, real name Adrian Toomes, is a supervillain senior citizen. He used his electronics skills to build himself a harness that allows him to fly. He’s been a thorn in Spider-Man’s side since he first showed up on the scene, even once stealing Peter Parker’s youth.

Mysterio’s real name is Quentin Beck, a Hollywood stuntman and special effects designer. He turned to a life of crime when he became frustrated with his lack of recognition in Hollywood. He’s one of Spider-Man’s most interesting foes because he doesn’t pose much a physical threat, but his illusory capabilities force Spidey to constantly question his senses and surroundings.

The Vulture may still make it into a Spider-Man movie. Rumor has it that he’s a villain being considered for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Michael Keaton will be playing the role.
