Cox sat down with Collider for a one-on-one chat recently to talk Daredevil, and it was there the star nodded to his character’s next steps. When Cox was asked what he wants to see from Matt Murdock in Daredevil season three, the actor had the following to say:
“I don’t know. I don’t know what they’re thinking or planning for Season 3. I’d like to see the relationship with Karen figure itself out. I’d like Matt to be able to find that vulnerability that is required, in order to be honest, up front and vulnerable with someone that he cares greatly about,” the actor started.
“Hopefully, he’s learned some lessons from The Defenders. Hopefully, he’s learned that sometimes we need each other. He believes in God and maybe he’s beginning to understand that God gave us each other for a reason, and he doesn’t have to be so stubborn in his need and desire to do everything by himself.”
Recently, Cox got Marvel fans buzzing when the actor hinted the series’ upcoming adaptation of a popular comic storyline. The star teased The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview about Marvel’s interest in pursuing Frank Miller’s Born Again.
“That’s such an amazing story. Everyone who loves Daredevil loves Born Again,” Cox said. “You can’t not. And if that’s the case, then the implications of that would be very exciting to me. That would be great.”
Born Again is one of Daredevil’s most popular storylines, but it would be difficult to do a page-for-page adaptation of the tale. Not only does Captain America have a sizable role in the run, but the storyline also turns Karen Paige into an abused addict who goes into porn to feed her habits.
However, Daredevil could take the bigger elements of Born Again and adapt them for Netflix. The story famously saw Murdock’s identity as Daredevil get outed to the public, and Kingpin used the information to put a hit out on the lawyer. The third season of Daredevil may bring back the villain for another round if it follows Born Again‘s overarching plot.
Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal โ to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
