There is no lack of love between two of Deadpool 2‘s leads. Ryan Reynolds is a vetted fan of Josh Brolin, and it looks like the latter has a soft spot for the Canadian actor as well.

Recently, Brolin sat down to chat with Entertainment Weekly, and the actor opened up about his feeling towards Reynolds. The actor, who will play Cable in Deadpool 2, only had good things to say about his co-star.

“He’s an amazing guy, very smart and really sweet โ€” and really handsome,” Brolin started.

“He’s a smart guy, he’s the one who saw this and tried to get this movie made for eight years and was unable to,” he continued. “I think has such a perfect sensibility. He’s a great producer on it, there’s a lot to trust there.”

Brolin isn’t wrong about how dedicated Reynolds has been when it comes to Deadpool. After all, the actor was attached to the hero for years before Wade Wilson was given his own standalone.

Reynolds played the hero for the first time in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the hero was unrecognizable to longtime fans. When 20th Century Fox optioned a solo film, Reynolds worked closely with director Tim Miller to prepare a test reel, but the studio passed on the film. That is, until the footage made its way online. The public response to the Deadpool reel was overwhelmingly positive, and Reynolds was a driving force in ensuring the film as a whole would live up to expectations once it was okayed.

Brolin was only recently associated with the Deadpool franchise, but the actor appears to be settling in just fine. Reynolds has gushed about his approval of the actor’s casting in recent weeks. During an interview with Fandango, Reynolds admitted fans have something special to look forward to with Brolin’s Cable.

“I think it’s going to be very interesting,” Reynolds revealed. “I’ve spent this last week on the business end of many Josh Brolin punches. Both verbal and physical and literal and it’s going to be pretty fantastic. He’s going to be epic. He’s going to be an epic Cable.”
