Speaking to Deadpool‘s writer Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick at a press event for their upcoming film Life, which reunites them with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, ComicBook.com learned that the list of actors in the running for Cable may be shorter than we’d been led to believe.
“It’s a short, short list,” Reese said.
“An announcement will be coming very soon,” Wernick added. “We’re gonna go into production in the next couple of months and cast announcements will be coming fast and furious.”
It looks like it won’t be too long until fans find out who the time-travelling mutant will be played by. He’ll be joining Zazie Beetz as Domino, another newcomer to Deadpool and the X-Men Movies universe.
For those not familiar with Cable, he is, in the Marvel Universe, the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey. He was infected with a powerful, techno-organic virus and so he as sent into the future where there was a way to treat it. He returned a grizzled, hardened mutant soldier.
Cable and Deadpool co-headline a 50-issue comic book series and are considered one of the great duos of the Marvel Universe.
