[SPOILER] Dies In The Defenders

The latest Netflix series raised the stakes for Marvel’s heroes as the Hand’s machinations threatened to destroy New York City. And though good has a tendency to triumph over evil, the Defenders did not make it out of the battle without a casualty.

Spoilers for “Ashes, Ashes,” the sixth episode of The Defenders.

While attempting to hide from the Hand, a conversation between Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Danny Rand, and Stick results in the revelation that the villainous cabal needs the Iron Fist in order to unlock a door that could lead them to ultimate power. They decide to keep Rand hidden and protected against his wishes, as he has trained his whole life to fight the Hand.

After a fight between the Iron Fist and the rest of the Defenders, they restrain Rand and split into two groups; Jones and Matt Murdock investigate to learn what exactly the Hand wants, while Luke Cage and Stick decide to stay behind and protect the Iron Fist.

But Stick has plans of his own, deciding that he would rather kill Rand then let him fall into the hands of the enemy. He concocts an incense that renders Luke Cage unconscious and is about to deliver the killing blow to Rand…

Then Elektra shows up.

The former pupil takes on her master in a sword fight. Stick gains the upper hand but won’t deliver the killing blow against the Black Sky, and she takes advantage of his hesitance. Murdock and Jones enter the room at the last moment, and the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen pleas for Elektra to spare stick.

But Elektra stabs him in the chest and knocks the rest of the Defenders unconscious before she retrieves Rand and delivers him to her masters of the Hand.

Stick was training Murdock, Elektra, and other warriors in the fight against the Hand, but his fight ended at the hands of his own student.

Unfortunately the Iron Fist fell into the hands of the enemy, prompting Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones to mount a last-ditch rescue attempt.

The Defenders is now streaming on Netflix.
