The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to reach new heights with next year’s Avengers: Infinity War. The epic film will bring a whole slew of Marvel characters together onscreen – but according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, one popular group will definitely be missing.

During a recent interview with Yahoo Movies, Feige confirmed that the Fantastic Four is not set to enter the MCU in the near future.

“I’ve been at Marvel for 17 years,” Feige revealed. “There are certainly no plans whatsoever for that.”

Speculation about the Fantastic Four – who general audiences will most remember from a string of poorly-received film reboots – joining the MCU certainly isn’t new. Feige essentially confirmed the same thing during last month’s Spider-Man: Homecoming press tour. But last weekend’s D23 Expo did spark recent intrigue, when some fans believed that the mysterious statues surrounding Thanos – which were later revealed to be the Black Order – were the Fantastic Four.

So while it sounds like the group won’t be cameoing in the MCU in Infinity War, Feige says a future appearance isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

“Too many amazing things have happened over the past 17 years for me ever say never.” Feige explained. “But for now, nothing.”
