Going into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were expecting cameos. After all, the original film from 2014 tossed Cosmo the Space Dog and Howard the Duck into the mix. However, meeting the original Guardians of the Galaxy as they appeared in Marvel Comics was a delightful and unexpected treat. Finally, a closer look has been revealed.
While fans will have to wait until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is release on blu-ray or Digital HD to pause, rewind, and take closer looks at the fantastically designed character, a new look has been released online courtesy of the concept artist who created his look.

Marvel Studios concept artist Ian Joyner took to Twitter to share the “final designs” for Martinex as they ended up appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Check it out in the tweet below.

Along with Starhawk, Martinex was introduced early in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 during an encounter with Yondu. The character whose abilities include withstanding temperatures and pressures most beings cannot and manipulating temperatures on a moment’s notice was tossed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum playing the part.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn has already revealed there are plans for the original batch of Guardians to earn some spotlight in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, it’s just a matter of time until we see more of this silicon-based hero.

The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
