Taking to Instagram, Gunn teased fans about Adam Warlock’s entrance into the Guardians of the Galaxy films. The director posted an Instagram story which pictured him lying down whilst reading a Warlock trade.
“A little night reading,” Gunn captioned the photo before it disappeared from his follower’s feeds.
Fans have known for awhile now that Gunn was making plans to bring Adam Warlock into the MCU. When Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hit theaters, one of its many post-credits scenes saw Ayesha in the process of creating the humanoid. That’s not even to mention the recent interviews where Gunn and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige spoke about the hero.
Speaking with SlashFilm, Gunn admitted that Adam Warlock was originally part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 before he got cut. He then said the hero wouldn’t appear in Avengers: Infinity War but that he was coming.
“He’s not. He’s not in Infinity War. But he will be a part of the future Marvel cosmic universe and a pretty important part of that,” Gunn said.
During a later interview, Feige then told SlashFilm if Warlock “appears anywhere in the future, it’ll be in Guardians.” With work underway on the third Guardians of the Galaxy feature, Gunn is no doubt figuring out how Adam Warlock will fit into a post-Avengers: Infinity War world. And, for now, all fans can do is wait and watch as the cosmic being gets created behind the scenes.
