Happy Birthday, Patton Oswalt!

The American stand-up comedian, writer, and actor is celebrating his 48th birthday today.
Despite his parents not having any interest in science-fiction or comic books, Oswalt grew up loving both—especially anything to do with Star Wars—and used that geeky passion to feul his comedy routine and persona.
To our community, Oswalt is best known for playing Hedges—the brilliant and clumsy member of Hannibal King’s Nightstalkers cell—in 2004’s Blade: Trinity and Agents Eric, Billy, and Sam Koenig in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He’ll reprise the latter two roles for next Tuesday’s “Hot Potato Soup” episode. Check out a sneak preview in the video above.
Oswalt has written a couple comic book stories, penning a back-up story for Batman #600 called JLA: Welcome to the Working Week and stories for Dwight T. Albatross’s The Goon Noir #01 and Masks: Too Hot for TV.
Oswalt is also an accomplished voice actor, having voiced roles in Ratatouille, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Kim Possible, American Dad, The Venture Bros., The Simpsons, Axe Cop, Justice League Action, and more. He is also the narrator on ABC’s ’80s nostalgia-based sitcom The Goldbergs.
This past year, his Netflix comedy special Patton Oswalt: Talking for Clapping won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special.
Patton Oswalt was born on January 27, 1969 in Portsmouth, Virginia.
