‘Marvel’s Inhumans’ Premiere Recap With Spoilers

SPOILERS for Marvel’s Inhumans Follow!

An Inhuman runs through the woods of Hawaii, pursued by soldiers with guns. Triton finds her, explains what she is, and invites her to Attilan, the Inhuman city.

The soldiers open fire. Triton and the other Inhuman run. The Inhuman is shot. The soldiers continue to pursue Triton.

Triton dives into the ocean. The soldiers report that their mission is accomplished.

In Attilan, Black Bolt and Medusa enjoy some intimacy in their bedroom. They ignore an alert on a wrist communicator.

Later, they go to the balcony of their room and gaze out over Attilan, which is hidden in an atmospheric bubble on the moon.

On the moon, a lunar rover bumps up against Attilan’s barrier and goes offline.

Black Bolt and Medusa walk through Attilan and they tell Maximus to follow. Gorgon and Karnak inform them of the rover. Karnak notes that Gorgon’s hoof showed up on the rover’s live feed, which does not go unnoticed by the humans watching on Earth.

Black Bolt suggests doing nothing. Maximus warns that humans will find them eventually. Gorgon teases Maximus for not actually being Inhuman because he has no powers. Maximus wants to claim Earth for the Inhumans. Medusa warns that it will lead to war. Black Bolt sides with her and Maximus agrees to trust Black Bolt.

The Royal Family and the Inhumans Genetic Council gathers for the Terrigenesis ceremony of two young Inhumans. Karnak holds the Terrigenesis as a sacred, important evolutionary guide. Maxmius sees it as entirely random.

Gorgon wonders where Medusa’s sister, Crystal, is. She is elsewhere with the large Inhuman dog, Lockjaw.She receives a notification from Medusa and Lockjaw teleports them to the grand hall.

A crate of Terrigen Crystals is opened. The young Inhumans are placed in transformation chambers and exposed to the Terrigen Mist.

The female Inhuman emerges with butterfly wings. The Inhumans celebrate the birth of a new flyer. The boy says he feels the same as he did before the process. Maximus tells the boy that sometimes Terrigenesis can take a while to manifest. When Maximus puts a hand on his shoulder the boy has a kind of seizure and falls to the ground. When he awakes he claims to have had a vision of Maximus being slammed against a wall and then snakes crawling all over him.

Act II

In the lower caste living quarters on Attilan, the flyer shows off her wings. The other, who showed no discernable powers, is told to go to the mines. Maximus reassures him, but some of the others wonder why Maximus, a prince, isn’t mining like everyone else with no powers.

Maximus gives a speech about how even the lower caste Inhumans could thrive if the Inhumans lived on Earth. Maximus receives an alert and walks away.

At dinner, Karnak dresses down a servant who shows attraction to him, explaining how their flawed relationship would end.

Maximus comes to dinner and tells the Royal Family that Triton is dead. He brings another Inhuman with him, whose eyes are capable of projecting Triton’s last moments for all to see.

Black Bolt had kept Triton’s mission a secret. Black Bolt says they don’t know that Triton is dead and that he was there to seek out those Inhumans on Earth activated by the Terrigen in Earth’s water.

Maximus questions whether adding to Attilan’s population is wise given how thin their resources are spread. He suggests going to Earth. Black Bolt says not now, and to trust him.

Karnak tells Black Bolt that he’s being blind to how dangerous Maximus is.

Gorgon storms out, saying that Black Bolt should have sent him instead of Triton. He tells Crystal to leave with him and she does.

Black sends Gorgon on a rescue mission to find Triton. Lockjaw teleportaway with Gorgon to Earth.

Act III

Medusa tells Black Bolt that Karnak is right about not trusting Maximus. Black Bolt tells her he needs to be alone to think. She leaves him to it. Maximus enters a meditation chamber.

Medusa thinks back to when she was a girl. She entered that chamber and introduced herself to young Black Bolt.

Maximus tries to talk to Medusa. She tries to ignore him, but Maximus persists. Maximus tries to remember the times he and she were closer, and wonder about how things could have turned out if she was with him instead of his brother. He continues to harass her until she becomes angry and throws him against the wall with her hair. He remembers the boy’s vision of him being thrown against the wal and covered by snakes.

Maximus talks to the genetic council about the boy with the visions. The counciler says the boy had a vision of him in a river. Maximus pitches the councillor on gonig against Black Bolt. The councillor is not receptive.

The councillor summons Auran to arrest Maximus. Auran attacks the councillor instead and kills him, leaving him ina  river of his own blood.

Auran addresses Maximus as her king.

Act IV

Gorgon searches for Triton on Earth as the coup begins in earnest in Attilan.

The Inhuman hunting soldiers on Earth spot Gorgon and report to Maximus, who gives the order to take him out.

Soldiers move in on Gorgon on Earth and Karnak in Attilan. They fight back, Gorgon with his hooves and Karnak with martial arts and his ability to detect the flaw in anything. Karnak escapes and sends an alert to Black Bolt, Crystal, and Medusa.

Gorgon contacts Karnak. Karnak tells Gorgon about the Coup and that he needs to stay there.

Crystal is relaxing in her room with headphones on and doesn’t notice the alert. Karnak finds her and fills her in, telling her to escape with Lockjaw. Crystal tells Lockjaw to take Karnak instead and goes searching for Medusa.

Act V

Maximus sicks his soldiers on Medusa, who fends them off with her hair. Another Inhuman sneaks up behind her and stuns her with his powers.

Maximus’s soldiers restrain her and he cuts off her hair.

Maximus and his soldiers enter Black Bolt’s meditation chamber.

Crystal and Lockjaw find Medusa. Lockjaw takes Medusa to Earth with the others.

Maximus asks if Black Bolt is going to kill him with his voice the way he killed their parents.

There’s a flashback to Maximus accidentally obliterating their parents with a single word.

Lockjaw teleports Black Bolt away, but Crystal is captured by Maximus and his guards.

 

Act VI

Medusa awakens on Oahu Island in Hawaii and takes in her surroundings.

Karnak does the same.

Gorgon continues to search for Triton.

Lockjaw and Black Bolt materialize in a street in Honolulu, causing a traffic accident. Lockjaw teleports away. Black Bolt grabs a phone and finds that someone has taken a photo of him. He runs away.

Crystal is being held as a prisoner. Maximus tries to get her to tell him where the others went, but she refuses. Lockjaw arrives but is rendered unconscious.

Medusa contacts Black Bolt on their communicators. He responds with his heartbeat. She hears cars and realizes he’s on earth as well. She sets off to find him and gets on a tourist bus headed back to the city.

Karnak sets off to find Black Bolt himself, but falls downt he side of a ridge and is rendered unconscious.

Crystal is brought to the throne room, where Maximus sits on the throne. He tries to make her understand that the way she sees things is not how things really are. Maximus wonder how Crystal and Medusa’s parents would feel knowing they’re so loyal to the family they detested. Crystal tells Maximus that he is “just a human.”

Act VII

Gorgon searches for Triton in the sea. He nearly drowns, but is rescued by some surfers.

He shares a beer with them and they talk about Inhumans and his search for Triton. He says he’s stuck there until someone comes to bring him back to the moon.

The scientist who was working on the rover, Louise, is studying energy bursts on the moon near where the rover went down. She believes something came down from the moon to Hawaii. Her boss relieves her from duty.

Karnak wakes up. He’s bleeding from his head but remembers he’s looking for his king.

Crystal and Auran argue about Maximus, nearly coming to blows. Auran leaves, but dropped a communicator. Crystal uses it to try to contact Medusa.

Crystal fills Medusa in on what happened on Attilan. Medusa realizes that this is a trick to track and find Medusa.

 

Act VIII

Gorgon calls Maximus and challenges him to come and find him. Gorgon tells the surfers that they should leave before anyone else shows up.

Karnak tries to continue his search, but the bump he took to the head seems to be affecting his ability to think.

Maximus tells Auran to take whoever and whatever she needs to Earth and take care of the Royal Family.

Auran goes to Eldrac, an Inhuman gateway capable of creating gateways to other places, and tells him to teleport her to Earth. He argues at first but eventually opens a gateway for her.

Medusa leaves the bus. Auran begins her pursuit.

Act IX

Black Bolt enters a men’s clothing store and is fitted with some Earth clothes that allow him to blend in better. He leaves without paying and the employee calls the police.

The police find Black Bolt, but he fights one officer off. More arrive and he runs. They follow and catch up with him. The officers attack. They use a taser on him, which emits a small vocal response that sends one of their cars tumbling.

The police beat Black Bolt, cuff him, and put him in another car.

Maximus meets with the young boy with the visions again. This time he has a vision of the genetic council plotting Maximus’s death.

Maximus finds the genetic council and threatens them.

 

Act X

Maximus talks to Crystal again, trying to turn her to his side. He threatens Lockjaw and reminds Crystal of how her parents tried to revolt against his and Black Bolt’s parents.

Black Bolt is brought into the police station.

Auran finds the bus and searches for Medusa, killing the bus driver. She finds Medusa’s communicator. Medusa comes out from behind the bus and attacks Auran. They fight.

The police try to figure out who or what Black Bolt is, but with no luck.

Medusa stabs Auran with a knife she had hidden.

Black Bolt escapes his handcuffs The police hold Black Bolt at gunpoint until they realize he’s not trying to flee.

Medusa takes Auran’s communicator and uses it to contact Black Bolt and reassure him that they will pay Maximus back for what he’s done.

The police take Black Bolt’s communicator and then photograph him.

Maximus finds the miners and reassures them that a new society is coming and that the boy with the vision has a large role to play.

Maximus gives a speech to the gathered people. Black Bolt is placed in jail.

Auran comes back to life and removes the knife from her stomache an d heals her own wound. She calls for backup.
