In the new installment of the Couch Tomato’s YouTube channel’s 24 Reasons we get a break down of all the interesting similarities of Sony’s 2014 The Amazing Spider-man 2 and Disney’s 2016 Zootopia.
Considering both films take place in a New York City type location, Spider-man, actually in NYC and Zootopia in a city described as “The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot…” and both films have crime fighting main characters – I can see where similarities might be drawn. Whether you’re talking about Steve McQueen’s Bullitt or a Batman movie if crime fighting is involved you’ll have similar tropes. But beyond the crime fighting tropes of car chases and incompetent police officers there seems to be a bit of stretching the comparisons- like the “Foxx & Foxx” reason.

24 Reasons is a YouTube video series that now has over 75 videos comparing films. All movies are the same so you can’t hate a movie for the same reason you love another. I compare reboots, prequels, sequels, and similar movies that seem to copy or have tons of cliches. 24 Reasons all movies are the same. Past film comparisons include 24 Reasons Nightmare On Elm Street 3 & X-Men Are The Same Movie, 24 Reasons Spawn & Deadpool Are The Same Movie and 30 Reasons Star Wars A New Hope & Star Wars The Force Awakens Are The Same
With that criticism said, it’s a fun 4 minutes – you’ll likely find yourself yelling at the screen at least one or two times. Check it out and please comment if you agree or not – and which comparisons stand correct.
