The world of Marvel television has certainly been buzzing with news this week. In addition to today’s announcement about an upcoming New Warriors series, fans have been treated to a new promo and release date for The Defenders, as well as news that future seasons of both Daredevil and Jessica Jones are now on the horizon.

Jessica Jones, in particular, might see its second season premiere closer than fans might think. The new season reportedly started production on Monday, begging the question of which cast members will return for the show’s second outing.

A vague tweet from Wil Traval, who appeared in the first season as Detective Will Simpson – a.k.a. deranged supersoldier Nuke – hints that he might return to the role. Traval conveniently mentioned that he is flying to New York, which would tie right into the recent start of production.

Of course, this could just be Traval messing with his fans, but it’s safe to assume that he will appear in the second season in some capacity, given the open-ended nature of his character’s arc. After being used by season one’s Big Bad, Kilgrave (David Tennant), Simpson became an odd sort of asset for Jessica (Krysten Ritter) and her best friend, Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor). By the end of the season, he eventually became addicted to the mind-altering, supersoldier-creating pills that turned him into Nuke.

Given Simpson’s connection to both Jessica and Trish, as well as the fact that his supply of Nuke pills came from the mysterious IGH corporation teased at the end of the season, it almost seems like a no-brainer for Traval to be returning to the role in the very near future.

In the time since Jessica Jones‘ first season, Traval has stepped into another comic book role, playing the Human Target during a brief stint on The CW’s Arrow.
