Not only does the upcoming Netflix/Marvel series promise to be another gritty entry into the more mature world of comic book television, but the show’s main big bads will challenge the heart and soul of Harlem.
Which is exactly what Luke Cage is fighting for – to rid his home turf of Harlem of organized crime, political corruption and general chaos.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
Showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has compared the series to The Wire saying it’s, “a dark, gritty crime drama infused with ’90s hip-hop.”
From what we’ve seen so far, Luke Cage will definately excite fans of both the comics and hip hop, while bringing in a new audience of crime drama lovers. You can read our official review of the first seven episodes here.
