Over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, fans finally got a full cast list for the much anticipated Black Panther solo film.
One of those new additions has been rumored for awhile now but was officially confirmed at Comic-Con. Lupita Nyong'o , who previously starred in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 12 Years a Slave, was officially announced as part of the cast, and she will be playing the role of Nakia. Nakia is one of the Dora Milaje, who act as the bodyguards to Black Panther and the royal family.
Nyong'o was asked about the film and what details she could give about the plot.
"The story of this Black Panther is- what am I allowed to say? – The story is that the Black Panther's leadership is really threatened by two foes who come together, and so Black Panther gets the help of the C.I.A. and the Dora Milaje to try and defeat the enemy."
That's the most we've heard about the actual story thus far, and more than likely one of the foes will be Klaw, who was played by Andy Serkis in Avengers: Age of Ultron. As for the other, that will be frequent Ryan Coogler collaborator Micahel B. Jordan, who is playing Erik Killmonger in the film.
Nyong'o will be joined by new addition Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne on AMC's The Walking Dead. Gurira will be playing Okoye, the leader of the Dora Milaje. It's a talented cast already, and it will likely get a few more additions as we get closer to filming.
