Five Actors Who Could Play Marvel’s Moon Knight

The recent news that Marvel’s The Punisher Netflix series will feature an additional Marvel superhero has gotten fans buzzing. We don’t know anything more than the fact that this hero could be a new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe Netflix lineup, and one hero that fans have long wanted to see is none other than Moon Knight.

Marc Spector/Moon Knight is like a supernatural-themed Batman/James Bond, and the actor playing him will need to have both an inherit dark streak, and the action skills to pull off the character’s impressive combat prowess. Since Moon Knight would be a part of the MCU Netflix lineup, we also need an actor who could fit the budget.

Dylan Bruce

Orphan Black star Dylan Bruce made his way playing a shadowy operative for a secret organization, and looked convincing in the role.

Since Marc Spector is a boxer, former Marine, mercenary, and wealthy businessman, it would make sense to have an actor who can portray both dapper handsomeness and violent edge.

As stated, Bruce has already done that, and he would look good as a wealthy and mature counterpart to the rest of Marvel’s Defenders actors and Punisher actor, Jon Bernthal. 

Michiel Huisman

When Game of Thrones needed a new Daario Naharis (Nashville, Treme), the show recruited Michiel Huisman, and he’s been a geek-culture fixation ever since, as he also played a love interest character on Orphan Black a few years back.

Huisman is a leading man just waiting for a breakout role, and Moon Knight’s days a mercenary in Egypt would be perfectly suited for his witty attitude and rugged physique.

Josh Dallas

Once Upon A Time‘s Prince Charming just finished up a long stint on that popular fairy tale – perfect time for him to go down a darker path playing Marvel’s Moon Knight. 

Dallas is another leading man just looking for the right breakout; he’s also capable of effectively conveying the conflicting sides of Moon Knight, as a rugged covert operative/merc; a dapper businessman; and a brutal spiritual warrior. 

J.R. Ramirez

Since Marc Spector/Moon Knight isn’t the most well-known Marvel superhero, a little ethnic change-up wouldn’t be out of the question. To that end, J.R. Ramirez has played a rugged street criminal (Starz’s Power) and a rugged street hero (Arrow), and brought intrigue to both characters.

On either side of the law, Ramirez has the swagger, edge, and physicality that would make him a compelling Moon Knight. 

Ryan Eggold

Ryan Eggold’s Tom Keen was such a breakout star of NBC’s The Blacklist that he got to step into a lead role in his own spinoff. While the Blacklist franchise is still ongoing, Eggold is poised for a big jump to the next phase of his career. 

Since the actor’s Blacklist character, Tom Keen, is basically one of the world’s top deep cover covert operatives, he’s already proven that he could play the violent-yet-rugged Marc Spector, and has that extra sharp edge to his gaze that would definitely be convincing for a Netflix version of Moon Knight. Needless to say, a lot of fans would be happy with this casting.
