After debuting in the sophomore season of Marvel’s Daredevil, Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is set to lead his own self-titled Netflix series this fall. And when he does, he’ll bring another Daredevil character with him, with Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) set to appear in The Punisher.

According to the actress, there’s a pretty good reason for her cameo, as the bond between Karen and Frank will be further explored during the upcoming series. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly during San Diego Comic-Con, Woll spoke about the Karen and Frank dynamic – particularly the emotional turmoil they both have endured.
“Frank has a soft spot in Karen’s heart,” Woll explained. “And certainly with the dark history that Karen has, there are very few people she can share her authentic self with. Frank is someone who she could potentially fully open up to.”
Given the trauma both have endured – and the deaths both have on their conscience – it certainly makes sense that the pair will bond even further in The Punisher. Whether or not the Karen and Frank relationship will manifest platonically – or, as many fans have suggested, romantically – has yet to be seen. We’re sure to find out when The Punisher debuts on Netflix this November.
Marvel’s The Punisher is being developed by Steve Lightfoot for Netflix. Lightfoot will serve as showrunner.
The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle), Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (David Lieberman), Michael Nathanson (Sam Stein), Jaime Ray Newman (Sarah Lieberman), Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Paul Schulze (Rawlins), Daniel Webber (Lewis Walcott), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Kobi Frumer (Zach Lieberman), Ripley Sobo (Leo Lieberman), Kelli Barrett (Maria Castle), Ben Barnes (Billy Russo), and Aidan Pierce Brennan (Frank Castle Jr.).
Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, Luke Cage season 1, and Iron Fist season 1 are all available on Netflix now, while The Defenders is expected later in the year. The Punisher will be released in November. Netflix has announced second seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, and a third season of Daredevil, but no release dates have been announced for those either.
