Is there a fight scene?

That same question is at the root of why she turned down a role in another FOX and Marvel property, that being the massively successful Deadpool. She was offered the role of Vanessa, eventually played by Morena Baccarin, but decided to pass. In an interview with American Way Magazine, she explains why.

“Munn says she didn’t want to be the girlfriend. Not again. She wanted to fight. To make noise. To kick butt.”

That is why when talking with FOX about X-Men, she made sure that Psylocke would be swinging that sword as much as possible.

“I said, ‘Is there a fight scene?’ ” Munn says of her early meetings with the X-Men: Apocalypse people. Once again, the filmmakers were full of assurances. Yet Munn couldn’t shake the feeling that there might be too much talking and not enough action. “The fight scene,” she says with a wry smile, “could be her monologue.”

If the trailers are any indication, the character seems to be an “action first, questions later” type personality, which is what Munn ultimately wanted.

X-Men: Apocalypse debuts on May 27th.
