Spider-Man: Homecoming flies into theaters next week, and promises to introduce a whole slew of new characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But according to one recent rumor, one of the film’s supporting characters might end up hopping universes to appear in Sony‘s Silver & Black.

Last month, rumored story details were revealed about the Spider-verse film, which will reportedly include characters such as Spider-Woman, Norman Osborn, and Robot Master. The later of those characters will also have two henchmen, including Mac Gargan/The Scorpion.

And now, SplashReport is speculating whether or not Gargan’s MCU counterpart will appear in the Sony film. Michael Mando (Better Call Saul, Orphan Black) is listed as playing the role in Homecoming, although its unclear in exactly what capacity. The leading rumor is that Mando could also play the character in Silver & Black‘s much more significant role.

There’s currently no indication as to whether or not this will actually happen, but it’s certainly interesting. If that casting did come to fruition, it would make Gargan the first character to cross over between the cinematic universes, despite execs from both Sony and Marvel saying that the two would stay separate.

But of course, there’s also a chance that the character could be played by a different actor, similar to how Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox used Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver in both Avengers: Age of Ultron and X-Men: Days of Future Past. With both cinematic universes establishing their own corners of the Spider-verse, it’s certainly a possibility.
