‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Writers Developing New Sci-Fi Show For FOX

The screenwriting duo behind Spider-Man’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are now setting their focus on the small screen, working on a TV series for FOX.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are developing an hour-long sci-fi drama for the network with working title of “Proxy,” according to Variety.

The report states the drama is “centered on a technology that allows online followers to live voyeuristically through the experiences of hedonistic young ‘Proxies’ on a remote island paradise.”

Daley will be returning to television, where his career first got a huge boost as an actor on Freaks and Geeks. He also starred on the FOX Network’s Bones for a few seasons.

FOX only picked up the script, so they’ll have to decide on whether or not the pilot will be produced. Daley is serving as creator, writer, and executive producer while his writing partner Goldstein is producing. Should the pilot get picked up, Goldstein would write as well.

Michael Sugar of Anonymous Content will also produce. He has had a recent string of success on Netflix with series like The OA and 13 Reasons Why. Anonymous Content’s Ashley Zalta is producing as well.

Daley and Goldstein wrote the script of Spider-Man: Homecoming for Marvel Studios, as well as a draft of Horrible Bosses. They made their directorial debut together with Vacation, a reboot/sequel of the original series from National Lampoon.


Their second film directing together, Game Night, stars Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, and Jesse Plemons.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is in theaters now.
