So, it’s finally official: not only will Spider-Man come to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War, but the Marvel Universe will come to Spider-Man, as well.

Exactly how isn’t totally clear, but obviously fans will be excited. The Spider-Man franchise has consistently blown up the box office, even without the support of other Marvel superheroes to bring their fans along.
But now, it’s time! The first crossover out of the way in just under a month, the as-yet-untitled Spider-Man movie will bring on the second.
…So, who will hang out with the ol’ Wall Crawler in his own solo film? No idea…but here’s what we would like to see…!
DOCTOR STRANGE
Steve Ditko’s greatest Marvel creations, together in one movie?
Yes, please!
There isn’t even any officially-released footage from Doctor Strange yet, but I’m already more excited for it than I am just about any superhero movie on Marvel and DC’s current slates. So adding Cumberbatch to the Spider-Man universe? I’d be all in.
IRONMAN
Spidey’s already on Iron Man’s side in the Civil War, and Robert Downey, Jr. has proven to be a massive draw in every Marvel movie he’s appeared in.
Notwithstanding a brief, uncredited cameo in The Incredible Hulk, Downey’s Marvel movies have all been huge financial hits. How big? Well, right now there are six Marvel Studios movies ever to earn more than $300 million at the domestic box office. Five of them featured Tony Stark (the sixth being Guardians of the Galaxy).
That’s the kind of rarefied air breathed by box office juggernauts like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films and Deadpool. You want to see what happens when you mash Downey into an already-massive Spidey franchise?!
ANT-MAN
Let’s face it: besides the litany of easy insect-themed jokes that this would yield, who wouldn’t want to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s snarkiest Avenger team up with the Marvel Comics Universe’s snarkiest superhero?
It’s a match made in heaven…as long as nobody thinks too hard about how much more fun Star-Lord would probably be, except that it would mess up the independent nature of the Guardians films’s little corner of the MCU.
THE INCREDIBLE HULK
Another science bro to add to the equation? Why not?
It’s unlikely we’ll see the Hulk pop up in a Spider-Man movie, if for no other reason than the cost of rendering the Jade Giant, but since he’ll have taken Civil War off, it’s hard to argue that it wouldn’t be cool to see how Bruce and/or Hulk interact with the Webhead.
Maybe we’ll see it in a future sequel from one or the other studio…!
CAPTAIN AMERICA
Oh, please, please, please don’t let Civil War end the way the comics did!
