When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are plenty of heroes moving around in their own circles. Some heroes may choose to operate on their own, but plenty of others find comfort in having a team behind them. These days, there are few groups as popular in the Marvel Universe than the Avengers as the righteous ensemble saw its popularity explode when the team was brought to the big screen.

However, it looks like the Avengers will not the MCU’s only superhero squad for long. This year will mark an important occasion for both Netflix and Marvel Studios. The two will come together to bring The Defenders to life in the coming months, teaming up the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
Of course, the two teams will be different from one another, but that won’t keep fans from comparing the two. Some will even go so far as to wonder if any of the heroes would want to switch teams. But, when it comes to Iron Fist‘s cast, it seems its leads are happy where they are.
Recently, Jessica Henwick and Finn Jones sat down with IGN to talk about their roles in the upcoming miniseries The Defenders. It was there that actors were asked if it was better to be an Avenger or Defender.
“You know we have to say Defender,” Henwick said at first before Jones added in.
“We don’t have to say Defender, but I think its better to be a Defender – definitely. We’re for the people. We’re on the streets, and we’re attacking crime where it matters. We’re real people.”
In Marvel’s Iron Fist, fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.
Based on the Marvel Comics character created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, Marvel’s Iron Fist is developed by Scott Buck, who serves as the series showrunner. Iron Fist stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, the Iron Fist, as well as Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, and Rosario Dawson.
Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, and Luke Cage season 1 are all available on Netflix. Iron Fist will premiere on March 17, 2017. The Defenders expected later in the year. The Punisher does not have a release date yet.
