Since Tony Stark first revealed he was Iron Man to the general public, the ordinary citizens of the Marvel Universe have been reminded time and again that superheroes exist in their world after things like the invasion of New York or Ultron’s destruction of Sokovia.

While they are aware of the Avengers activities, that doesn’t mean superheroes are the focal points of their lives, as in any society some are more attuned to world events than others.
ComicBook.com was able to speak to Marvel chief Kevin Feige about how aware Stephen Strange is of the events that transpired in film’s like Captain America: Winter Solider and Captain America: Civil War.
“It doesn’t come up much in this film,” he said. “One would imagine that anybody living in New York was aware of what had occurred in various instances. Like in our real life, people go about their daily business and go about their job. His job is to be the best neurosurgeon and to take the best cases and to get the most attention and to get the most accolades and that’s what he’s focused on until his accident. He doesn’t spend a lot of time talking or thinking about the Avengers.”
The picture painted of Stephen Strange so far is a self-involved one, so it doesn’t really come as any surprise that he wouldn’t waste a great deal of time thinking about what America’s superteam is up to at the moment, but after the events of Doctor Strange, that will most quickly change.
From Marvel comes Doctor Strange, the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place โ a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange โ armed with newly acquired magical powers โ is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence.
