Hugh Jackman's take on the classic Marvel Comics character Wolverine has been a mainstay in superhero comic films ever since X-Men hit theaters in 2000. Fans loved the actor's take on the character, and his looks were a spot-on copy of the comic Wolverine.

After starring in six films in the X-Men franchise, and appearing in two more, Hugh Jackman has announced he will be leaving the character once and for all. The third film in the Wolverine series, Logan, will act as Jackman's swan song to the beloved character.

On Monday morning, Jackman shared a new ad for the upcoming film on his personal Twitter account. It's unclear whether this is a banner or a theater standee, but it features an action-packed image nontheless.

Underneath three-dimensional letters, spelling out Logan, the image shows the hero running against a blurred background, and a young girl in his arms. If you look closely, you can also see his infamous claws apearring from behind the letters.

According to the trailers of the film, the little girl is X-23, basically a powerful mutant similar to Wolverine.

Logan follows the title character in a post-apocalyptic world where many of the other mutants are dead. Wolverine, with the help of a very old Charles Xavier, must help X-23 escape to safety. The child could either be the downfall of all humanity, or the savior of the mutant race.

Logan is directed by James Mangold, and features a script penned by Mangold, David James Kelley, and Michael Green. The film will hit US theaters on March 3, 2017.
