The man who was on his way to becoming Nuke in Jessica Jones‘ first season may be on his way to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Or, maybe not.

Several websites are reporting that Wil Traval, who played Will Simpson in the first season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix, is rumored for Fox’s next X-Men movie, teasing his role in it, or that he has actually been cast.

The reports all seem to stem from a tweet made by Traval on April 22, 2017. The tweet reads, “I am gonna be in heaven #DarkPhoenix #xmen7 #JeanGrey #EverythingEverything”

Some have taken that “I am gonna be in heaven” tweet to mean that Traval is going to be in the movie.

However, this should be taken with a grain of salt. Based on this Twitter timeline, Traval enjoys a lot of geeky entertainment. He’s also recently tweeted his excitement about Star Trek: Discovery, American Gods, and Joss Whedon’s Batgirl movie, but he doesn’t have an announced role in any of those projects.

Another consideration is that the tweet came on the same day that 20th Century Fox officially announced X-Men: Dark Phoenix and dated the film for Nov. 2, 2018. It seems likely that Traval was simply tweeting out a preemptive “I’m in heaven” response to the idea of seeing X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

We’re not entirely ruling out the possibility of Traval having a role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Fox has already borrowed an actor from Marvel’s Netflix shows for the upcoming New Mutants spin-off. They’re also being strangely secretive about a movie that is slated to come out in less than 18 months.

Perhaps Traval has been cast and, in his excitement, let something slip on Twitter. There have been some hints that X-Men: Dark Phoenix will finally take the franchise to space and if the film decides to include the space pirate crew known as the Starjammers into the mix then Traval could make a solid choice for Corsair, the group’s leader and the long lost father Havok and Cyclops. However, we wouldn’t jump to that conclusion based on this tweet alone.
