Just when you thought Avi Arad and Marc Webb couldn’t ruin Spider-Man anymore. Dennis Leary, who played Captain Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man films.

“I was part of the franchise, I briefly came back for 2. Part of the discussion was that possibly in 3, there was this idea, at one point, Spider-Man would be able to take this formula and regenerate the people in his life that had died,” Leary revealed to IGN. “So there was this discussion that Captain Stacy would come back even bigger in episode 3.”

I don’t want to focus on the Captain Stacy part. What is much more interesting in his comments is that it means Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) would’ve tried to bring back Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) from the grave. That alone, tells you how inept Sony’s creative team was. Think about it, you make a bold decision to kill off Gwen in the second film and then you want to bring her back in the next one?! Awful. Just awful.

Thank god Spidey is now in the hands of Marvel, because Avi, Webb and the rest of the Sony stooges were gonna drive Spidey right off the cliff.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man/Peter Parker will make a cameo in Captain America: Civil War, which will arrive on May 6, 2016. He’ll then star in the Jon Watts-directed solo Spider-Man movie to be released on July 28, 2017.
