Chief among them is Brontis Jodorowsky as Nicholas Flamel. Though Flamel never appeared in any of the Harry Potter novels or movies, his reputation was known for he was the alchemist who invented the Sorcerer’s Stone (or the Philosopher’s Stone, depending on which continent you live on) which produces the Elixir of Life. His inventions played a major role in the very first Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Also joining the cast is The Daily Show alum Jessica Williams. Williams’ role has not been revealed. While promoting her film The Incredible Jessica James over the summer, Williams revealed on The Last Show with Stephen Colbert that she had met and befriended Harry Potter author JK Rowling, whose work Williams has loved since she was a child.
Other new additions to the cast include Wolf Roth as a someone going by the name Spielman, Call the Midwife star Victoria Yeates as Bunty, Derek Riddell as Torquil Travers, Poppy Corby-Tuech as Rosier, Cornell S John as Arnold Guzman, and Fiona Glascott in an unrevealed role.
The addition of a “Travers” and “Rosier” to the cast are particularly noteworthy, since members of those families became Death Eaters, followers of Lord Voldemort, in the Harry Potter series.
Returning cast members include Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, and Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski. Carmen Ejogo, who played Seraphina Picquery, the President of MACUSA, in the first movie, is also now confirmed to return.
It was previously announced that Jude Law would join the cast in the role of a young Albus Dumbledore, who will seek out Newt’s aid in taking down the dark wizard Grindelwald. Other previously announced new additions were Callum Turner as Newt’s brother Theseus and Zoรซ Kravitz as Leta Lestrange, who was only seen in a photograph in the first film.
The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in theaters on November 16, 2018.
