Harry Potter scribe J.K. Rowling has long maintained a presence on social media and uses her accounts to interact with fans. She often takes part in impromptu question-and-answer sessions for her legions of fans, hoping to glean some details that might not be in the books or on her Pottermore website.

But Rowling will not delve into territory if she feels it will spoil an upcoming plot point in the sequel of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, of which she is hard at work in writing the script.

Rowling was answering some questions on Twitter when one fan decided to ask her if the author would reveal series protagonist Newt Scamander’s patronus, a magical animal guardian that protects its summoner from the harm of Dementors.

Fans can find out what animal their own patronus is by taking a quiz and posting to their social media accounts, and the Harry Potter series further fleshed out the lore and explored Harry, Hermione, and Ron’s own connections to the magical force.

But Rowling would not reveal this detail about Eddie Redmayne’s character in the spinoff series, calling it a “big spoiler” for future movies.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 2 will return fans to the world of Hogwarts, albeit to the other side of the pond and in a different timeline. The next film follows directly from the first and will feature Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald, who is searching for an Obscurusโ€”a magical parasite with dangerous abillities.

Rowling is hard at work on the sequel, which is also going to feature Jude Law as a younger Dumbledore as a part of the cast. The movie is set to release November 16, 2018, so don’t expect for Newt’s patronus to be revealed at least until then.
