According to Variety, Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett is in talks for a leading role in Thor: Ragnarok.

Marvel had no comment when Variety reached out to the studio and their sources didn’t provide any details as to which role the 6-time Oscar nominee is reportedly up for.
Blanchett has a whole slew of film roles that she is known for. In the geek-community, the 46-year-old actress is best known for playing Galadriel in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies, the wicked stepmother in Disney’s live-action Cinderella movie and Soviet agent Irina Spalko in 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. In the art-house scene, she’s well-known for her roles in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, Shekhar Kapur’s 1998 film Elizabeth, and the recently released lesbian-drama Carol.
Thor 3 pre-production in Australia will begin in January of 2016 and filming is set to begin in June of 2016.
Thor: Ragnarok will star Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk). It’ll be directed by What We Do In The Shadows’ Taika Waititi, based on a script by Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle and Stephany Folsom.
Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 3, 2017.
