Following the introduction of Marvel Comics’ First Family into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios is now setting its sights on casting the X-Men for a planned reboot. While the film is still in the early stages according to its director Jake Schreier, rumors have continued to circulate regarding potential actors being considered for the project. One actor who has been mentioned quite frequently in regard to the project is former The Sandman star, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, who has been heavily rumored for the role of Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. In a new interview with DisInsider, the actress was asked about being approached by Marvel Studios, to which she gave a rather vague, but interesting response for fans. “Send that article. I’d love to read it. How intriguing?”

Howell-Baptiste, of course, is one of two names often rumored to have been approached by Marvel Studios. The other actress is Queen and Slim actress Jodie Turner-Smith who has a working relationship with Disney thanks to her work on the Star Wars series The Acolyte and the upcoming threequel Tron: Ares. While Howell-Baptiste didn’t give a long answer to the interviewer’s question, it is of note that she did not answer no. In fact, the outlet reports the actress did give a huge grin in response to the question. While Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed casting is underway, it has previously been teased that actors are being approached for roles, and casting agencies are submitting actors to be considered. It’s entirely possible Howell-Baptiste has met with Marvel Studios for an X-Men role, although it’ll be a bit before we know for sure.
MCU X-Men Casting Rumors Explained

Howell-Baptiste is perhaps best known for her work on the recently canceled Netflix series The Sandman, based on the DC comics of the same name. She portrayed the fan-favorite character Death, and even received her own special episode at the conclusion of the show’s second and final season. Outside of The Sandman, Howell-Baptiste has worked on shows such as Love, Veronica Mars, Why Women Kill, The Good Place, and Infinity Train. Following the cancellation of The Sandman, the actress is next set to lend her voice to the Netflix animated series Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, which is based on the video game franchise, as Zinnia McKenna. She is also attached to star in Transcending from director Mike Luciano and writer Raleigh Cain, who also co-stars in the movie along with Tone Bell, Nicole Byer, and Pete Gardner.
Rumors surrounding the casting for Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot have been lingering for years. In the past, Taron Egerton was rumored for the role of Wolverine in the upcoming film, however, the actor has since debunked that by revealing he isn’t interested in joining a franchise. Meanwhile, actress Elle Fanning has been rumored to be in the running for Jean Grey, along with Margaret Qualley and Daisy Edgar Jones. As it stands, little is known as to who will actually star in the reboot. Schreier has previously confirmed his X-Men film will be incredibly different from the movies that have come before. It has previously been suggested that filming will take place next year, and if that proves to be true, we could begin to hear about castings sooner rather than later.
