Live-action remakes of Disney classics are currently all the rage. But one Tangled producer hopes the film isn’t added to that list anytime soon.

Roy Conli, who helped bring the 2010 reimagining of Rapunzel to life, recently spoke to Collider about the possibility of a live-action Tangled remake. As he revealed, the film feels too near and dear to his heart – and just too fresh in the Disney pantheon – to be remade already.

“I would hope that,” Conli explained, “because I loved Tangled so much, that to me it’s one of my favorite children, I would hope that they hold off on making that for a while. Because I just think it’s so fresh. I think in 25 years they can make it.”

Conli went on to talk about the film’s reinvention of the Disney princess status quo – something he would like to remain in animation, for the time being.

“For me, Tangled re-opened the door, I think, to what a princess is.” Conli added. “I think it opened the door to Frozen and it opens a door to just a whole new dialogue. I want it to be there for a while before it becomes something else.”

Tangled – which starred Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi – became a bonafide hit when it premiered in 2010, earning over half a billion dollars at the box office. While fans shouldn’t expect to see that story brought into live-action in the near future, the franchise has since spawned a short film, a Disney Channel television series, and a tie-in comic.

So if Tangled isn’t being brought into live-action anytime soon (at least, if Conli has anything to do about it), what of the producer’s other Disney outputs should get that opportunity?

“I’d love to make Treasure Planet a live-action film.” Conli revealed. “I think that in that format it could be so spectacular. It could be so spectacular. They’ve done an amazing musical version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame that played actually in Germany, that’s great. It’s a musical, that’s one of my favorite scores.”
