Harley Quinn

GLAAD has announced the nominees for their 27th Annual Media Awards, recognizing "fair, accurate, and inclusive representations" of the LGBT community over the past year.

The nominees for this year's Outstanding Comic Book category come from a variety of publishers. DC Comics' Harley Quinn, by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Chad Hardin, John Timms, and Jed Dougherty. In 2015, Conner and Palmiotti confirmed on Twitter that Harley is romantically involved with fellow villain Poison Ivy, something fans have read as subtext since Quinn and Harley's first pairing in Batman: The Animated Series. DC Comics declined to comment on the matter.

Also from DC Comics is Midnighter, by Steve Orlando, Aco, Hugh Petrus, Alec Morgan, and Stephen Mooney. The series follows the brutal brawler's espionage adventures after his breakup with Apollo.

Marvel Comics' Angela: Queen of Hel by Marguerite Bennett, Kim Jacinto, Israel Silva, and Stephanie Hans was also nominated, as was BOOM! Studios' fan favorite Lumberjanes, by Noelle Stevenson, Shannon Watters, Kat Leyh, Carolyn Nowak, Brooke Allen, and Image Comics' The Wicked + Divine, by Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, Kate Brown, and Tula Lotay.
