The mighty Marvel multiverse is getting a lot smaller in April, as the newly-released solicitations reveal that the publisher has cancelled David Lapham's Age of Apocalypse and Greg Pak's X-Treme X-Men. This move, of course, comes on the heels of X-Termination, an event coming in March built around the two titles. The conclusion of that story seems to be intertwined with the end of the series, with a lot of "last goodbye" and "final sacrifice" kind of language. The move brings the ever-growing X-Men family of titles closer together, as it removes the most stand-alone series in favor of a Marvel NOW! X-line that's much more closely knit. The last real exception is Peter David's X-Factor, which is such a fan and critical favorite, it might get a pass on such a policy. Interestingly, the solicitation information also confirms that the final two Marvel NOW! titles to be announced (at least as far as the first "wave" of #1 issues) are X-Men and Thanos Rising, with the latter being a five-issue miniseries. Solicitation text below. The image above is a three-part cover made up of Age of Apocalypse #14, X-Treme X-Men #13 and Astonishing X-Men #61.
