Brian Wood and James Smallwood Taking Over Moon Knight From Ellis and Shalvey

Outgoing X-Men writer Brian Wood and artist Greg Smallwood will replace Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey on Moon Knight when the current creative team bow out after just six issues this September, Newsarama reports.

"There's no one who can write Warren like Warren can, and it's stupid to even try," Wood admitted. "So I worked hard to find the right balance - stories that continue what Warren started, that continued the vibe, but were also mine, not his."

The pair are friends and have worked either together or in close proximity many times over the years.

"I'm not a normal super hero writer... Demo, Mara, DV8; it's not the typical way writers approach this stuff," Wood added. "Even with the X-Men, I'm doing it differently than most. The good thing about Moon Knight is he's not a traditional super hero either, so I'm a good fit. When thinking about Moon Knight, I'm thinking action films more than anything else. Johnnie To's stuff, The Raid, Oldboy, that sort of thing."
