Free Comic Book Day: Famed Creators Release Retailer-Exclusive Comic

A couple of Upstate New York comic book retailers will be carrying exclusive stories from Ron Marz, Joe Sinnott, Matthew Dow Smith and more this weekend at their Free Comic Book Day gatherings. "Comic Depot and Excellent Adventures really wanted to give their customers something special, and this is what we came up with," Marz told ComicBook.com. "It actually turned out better than I could have hoped. Now the next time somebody asks, 'How do you make these things?' we can just hand them this comic. It breaks down the comic creation process step by step. Paul Harding and Matt Smith produced great interior art, Rich Clark pulled it all together, and we have covers from Jennifer Meyer and Joe Sinnott. Kirby's best inker did our cover! How cool is that?" Here's how he explains the book to readers at his blog:

Excellent Adventures and Comic Depot will also have a special FCBD comic that we've created, which will not be available anywhere else. There are two covers, one by Jennifer Meyer featuring Miss Depot, and one by Joe Sinnott featuring Captain E.A., at the respective stores. The story inside is written by me, drawn by Paul Harding and Matthew Dow Smith, with tones and design by Richard Clark, and lettering by Troy Peteri. The pages take you through the step-by-step process of creating a comic, and present a meeting between Miss Depot and Captain E.A. The comic is free, but limited, so get to the stores early.

Marz, just announced as the incoming writer of Witchblade, will sign at Comic Depot, with is located in the Wilton Mall, by noon or so, and then rotate over to Excellent Adventures by about 2:30 p.m., and stay until 5 p.m.
