Gail Simone is returning to Secret Six, relaunching the title for the New 52.

"It's so fun to write these characters that are really poor role models," Simone told Hero Complex. Rather than "brightest heroes or the darkest villains," the book lives in the gray area between, with "private detectives, mercenaries, bounty hunters, failed heroes."

The story describes the title as revolving around a central mystery to which any DC Comics fan will want to know the answer. She compares it to Twin Peaks, saying that the story starts with the lead characters waking up in a room with no idea of how they got there.

"They instantly do not like each other, and they instantly do not get along with each other," Simone said.

Dale Eaglesham, one of the artists who worked on Simone's previous Secret Six volume years ago, redesigned Catman, who will serve as the central lead of the series. Eaglesham will provide the redesigns and the covers, although interior art will be handled by former Blackhawks and Superman: Doomed artist Ken Lashley.

Simone was tight-fisted with story details, but did confirm that (as she had promised before the New 52 reboot) Catman's bisexuality will play a role in his character going forward.

"You're going to see right away kind of what Catman's about," she said. "I don't want to reveal too much just because it is part of his character and part of his story to unfold these things through the story."

Secret Six will launch on December 3 from DC Comics.
