is reporting that a Gaurdians of the Galaxy sequel is already planned by Marvel Studios to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 3. According to the site's source, the film is aiming at a May 6, 2016 release. The plans makes it seem like Marvel has a lot of confidence in the first, still unreleased Guardians of the Galaxy film, which is generally considered to be their riskiest endeavor yet. If true, then the presence of Guardians of the Galaxy on the Phase 3 calendar brings up questions about whether or not there is still room for the other films rumored to be in development. We know that Edgar Wright's Ant-Man will kick off Phase 3 on July 17, 2015. Add to that the recently confirmed third Thor and Captain America films, and there's still the rumored Doctor Strange and Black Panther films. The source also confirmed that a Guardians of the Galaxy animated series is in the works, aiming for a premiere on Disney XD in Fall 2015. Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1, 2014.
