The Hellboy director looks to have something in the works over at Fox Searchlight, but the production is a closely-guarded secret for now.
Tracking Board has some information about the upcoming gig, apparently an original story from del Toro, but everything is kept under very tight wraps. The project is said to have been pitched as "Pixar's Wall-E meets the 80's comedy Splash". Del Toro will also direct the feature as well.
While del Toro has made a career out of horror-action films, he's also produced several feature films targeted for younger viewers (which this seems to be the audience for) such as Dreamworks' Kung-Fu Panda and Fox's The Book of Life.
No release date has been set for the unnamed project.
